Our Practice
Dr. Robert Jones started Jones Family Practice in 1958 in Shelby, North Carolina. A Boiling Springs native, Dr. Robert Jones wanted to help others receive quality care in his community. He attended Wake Forest University in Wake Forest, North Carolina for his undergraduate degree. He went on to complete his medical schooling at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, North Carolina. He was part of the first four-year class to graduate from the medical school at UNC-Chapel Hill. He completed his residency at Greenville General Hospital in Greenville, South Carolina. Dr. Jones worked for 51 years in the field. He had 3 children and enjoyed flying and traveling.

When the practice was originally started in 1957, it was located on Graham Street. Jones Family Practice is currently located on East Grover Street.

OUR PROVIDERS
Stephen W. Jones, MD
Dr. Stephen Jones graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA Chemistry degree. He continued his education at the East Carolina School of Medicine and completed his residency through East Carolina University and Pitt Memorial. Dr. Jones has been at Jones Family Practice since June of 1989 and works with Carolina Research Center, and is a clinical preceptor for family nurse practitioners. He is Medical Director at the Cleveland County Health Department. He has 2 children and enjoys scuba diving, skiing, tennis and racquetball. He is also a private pilot.
Meleah G. Hilton, PA
Meleah received her Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Gardner Webb University and received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies from the Methodist University Physician Assistant Program. Before becoming a physician assistant, Meleah worked as a CNA for 5 years, a phlebotomist and a high school biology teacher. Meleah has been with Jones Family Practice since March 2011.
Lyn Cheshire III, PA-C
Lyn Cheshire has been a Physician Assistant in Family Medicine for the last fifteen years. He has practiced both in Kings Mountain and in Shelby. He loves the practice of medicine and particularly enjoys interacting with his patients and their families. He is pleased to be joining Jones Family Practice, which he describes as a highly regarded and progressive organization.
He is a lifelong resident of Kings Mountain and values the relationships he has built with the community of Cleveland County.
His wife, Jeanette, and he have six adult children and seven beautiful grandchildren which they love to spend time with. They also have two dogs that are probably spoiled more than the grandchildren.
Lyn and Jeanette are active in their church, Boyce Memorial ARP in Kings Mountain, and they like to spend time working in their yard, walking, and biking.
Stephen and Kelly Jones have been good friends with the Cheshire's for many years, and the Cheshire's are excited for the opportunity to spend more time with Stephen and Kelly.
Lyn received his Physician Assistant training through the University of North Dakota at Grand Forks, North Dakota. He has served on the faculty of Gardner Webb University. He has practiced at Shelby Surgical Associates, Shelby Family Practice, and Kings Mountain Medical Center. We welcome him to this practice.
